SISTAG in the WWTP "Czajka" in Warsaw
With the construction of the siphon, Warsaw's waste water is transmitted from the left bank to the WWTP "Czajka".
SISTAG DN1600 knife gate valves are part of the project!
By means of a bidding process in July 2010 a consortium with the following companies was set up to carry out this investment project:
Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Górniczych "METRO" Sp. z o.o. (consortium manager)
HYDROBUDOWA POLSKA S.A.,
HYDROBUDOWA 9 S.A.,
INFRA S.A.
As the picture below shows the passing of 10m under the river Wisła was essential - and the key figures of this tunnel are impressive!
- Drilling shield diameter of 4,5m
- Tunnel length of 1400m
- Project costs of approx. EUR 44 millions (including sludge collectors and underground chamber)
Impressive is also the WEY ® knife gate valve needed for this installation. With a diameter of 1600 it is not only the biggest valve ever produced at SISTAG, but it is at the same time a regulating valve.
AFT engineers took part in this project from the whole beginning supporting the team during the project phase in discussing and offering technical solutions. Thereby it was possible to undertake this interesting construction challenge and realize the vision of the siphon project. The contract value for AFT for this project was around EUR 1 million.
